Pizza del fornaio

From:
Sicilian Food Culture
Pizza del fornaio
ReviewIngredients
The pizza itself is not a Sicilian dish, but the way that the Sicilian bakeries are making the dough and putting the topping is unique and very different in comparison to other parts of Italy and of course the rest of the world. This type of pizza, usually called “Pizza del fornaio” or “Pizza del panificio”, is sold by the slice and the price is usually of a single Euro ( 1.20$ ): portions are big (pure Sicilian way) and the price is super cheap, plus bakeries in Sicily are usually family owned, so the quality of the products is amazing. The most common toppings are Margherita (just Tomato and Mozzarella) or “Pizza con il wrustel” (Pizza with sliced hot dog – yes, that’s a thing and is DELICIOUS!)
